DESCRIPTION:Welcome to year five of SeaCHANGE! A conference like no other. \n\n\n\nWe gather creators of different identities\, races\, and ages for meaningful experiences of connection and creative expression\, exploring big questions. \n\n\n\nThis year’s conference is about how we can awaken\, empower\, and activate a deep well of creativity in community. \n\n\n\nWe’ll discover answers to this question: How can we empower\, resource and expand artistic creativity? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this time of such heaviness and overwhelm\, it’s good to remember we get strength from each other. \n\n\n\nIn times of disintegration\, the source to draw on to “build the good” comes from creativity and community. \n\n\n\nThe SeaChange Conference is not just talking about ideas\, it’s exploring processes\, practices\, and tools and learning from each other about what works to bring creative ideas into form. \n\n\n\nYou’ll enjoy time in conversations on this question… workshops with amazing artists… an open mic night and dancing… and relaxed space to make genuine human connections and cross-pollinate ideas in a beautiful setting. \n\n\n\nDay 1 looks at how people’s artistic creativity is empowered\, drawing insights from our personal lived experiences. \n\n\n\nDay 2 explores how we can grow communities that activate\, resource\, and expand artistic creativity. \n\n\n\nDay 3 gathers ideas and sparks collaborations for how to bring this experience back home to grow creative communities. \n\n\n\nWe create an environment where people experience being seen through the eyes of dignity and encouragement. The creative spark in each person is enkindled. Each year the weave of community connection deepens as people return and new people join.It’s about living “what community can be.” \n\n\n\nWe hope you’ll join Theater for the People\, Green Acre\, and Kinship on September 11\, 12 & 13 at Green Acre in Eliot\, Maine. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHighlights from Previous Years\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHi\, this is Najee Brown and I’m just so excited about this weekend we had three Incredible days at Green Acre Bahá’í Center of Learning doing the SeaCHANGE conference. \n\n\n\nI just can’t begin to say how excited and how proud and like over the moon I am of what I experienced this weekend—people just opening up and being vulnerable and showing their humanity like never before\, simply because they felt like they were in a safe space. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTestimonials\n\n\n\n\n\n“SeaChange is not your typical conference. It’s not just talking about ideas. It’s about bringing humans together. It’s about having conversa-tions\, being vulnerable with each other\, and most importantly for me\, it’s an artistic\, healing\, human experience that involves collaborating with each other. This place gives us a taste of what home and community feel like.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“SeaChange was definitely a sea change for me. It helped me to really find myself\, the muse within me\, as an artist. I’m so grateful for that. Not only that\, I have made so many new friends and built a really solid community from a lot of the people that I’ve met here.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“There were so many elements of how we were able to weave the creativity and the gifts of the artists\, and the musicians\, and the dancers here\, and then seeing how the young and the old and people from so many identities and backgrounds came together. It’s so rare to be in that space\, so it really exceeded my expectations.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“It’s having an opportunity to just breathe and be yourself for two and a half days\, amongst other folks who are also taking deep breaths and being themselves. I love it. I love it.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“At Green Acre\, we have a lot of different kinds of programs coming through. SeaChange is special because we see people carry the bonds they make with people through year to year. They develop collaborative partnerships\, they become good friends\, they see themselves as artists when they weren’t before. They’re seeing how their art can contribute not only for themselves as artists but for whatever communities they’re part of.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“There’s a saying of ‘fill your cup\,’ which SeaChange does. But if your cup is a colander and things keep pouring out\, then it’s harder to fill that up. SeaChange is one of those spaces that turns that colander into a cup. It heals\, it closes those holes and fills those gaps. It allows you to be more yourself and to connect and reweave community.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“What I’m coming to see is that loving relationships\, conversations\, and community environments can actually help us become more ourselves. It’s something even more than belonging. I call it soul friendship. You see people walk in the door and start to move and feel different because of how they’re seen. At SeaChange\, I think we’ve been able to take that idea of love and translate it into a three-day experience.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“To see artists who are professional\, in the midst of their career\, being able to get a lot out of this space and contribute to this space\, but then seeing people who are just moving into their artistic expression of themselves\, and seeing that come alive has been really special.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“It’s clear that a lot of changes are coming. Building community is going to be key not only for artists but people in general\, in terms of navigating these waters and thriving in the next few decades. SeaChange gives me the opportunity to see how community can be built from people with different backgrounds and interests. It’s been instrumental in helping me to define what I mean by community at different levels.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“I have loved every single part of SeaChange. For me\, the people really make it\, it creates this beautiful network. Additionally\, I love all of the movement. I don’t get to dance very often\, so I love coming here and being able to move.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The environment that we were able to create at the SeaChange Conference was one that really allowed people to connect in a deeper and more genuine way than you see in most social spaces.”
