An Evening with Poet Laureate Diannely Antigua
August 26, 2022 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Green Acre and Theater for the People present an evening of award-winning poetry with Portsmouth Poet Laureate Diannely Antigua. Her debut collection Ugly Music was the winner of the Pamet River Prize and a 2020 Whiting Award. She received her BA in English from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, where she won the Jack Kerouac Creative Writing Scholarship; and received her MFA at NYU where she was awarded a Global Research Initiative Fellowship to Florence, Italy.
Diannely Antigua’s poetry presentation will be followed immediately by a live jazz performance by Ysanne accompanied by local virtuoso Nick Mainella. Ysanne, a classically trained vocalist, gave an outstanding performance here in the Seacoast area as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill at Seacoast Rep last year.
Part of the SeaCHANGE Conference, which explores how art can be used for healing and social change, this evening of words and ideas is open to the public. To ensure this event is accessible to all, there will be a “pay what you can” ticket option. Tickets are required and can be purchased below.
